LAKE FOREST, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4,
2006--Liquidmetal(R) Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:LQMT) and Rawlings
Sporting Goods(R), leading marketer and manufacturer of baseball
equipment, announced that they will extend their partnership with a
new 3-year exclusive contract to manufacture and market the
Liquidmetal line of high performance baseball bats. This agreement
will extend the initial partnership established in 2002.
"We are very excited about the extension and continuation of our
partnership with Liquidmetal. As a result of this partnership, we have
been able to effectively combine innovation and performance in our bat
product line," said Scott Siebers, Rawlings Product Director.
The latest creation stemming from the Rawlings and Liquidmetal
partnership is the new Plasma Fusion bat, which fuses the latest in
composite and metal technologies. The Fusion is the fourth in the
generation of Rawlings bats to utilize Liquidmetal(R) Technology
(Liquidmetal, Liquidmetal 2, Plasma, and Plasma Fusion). This is the
first; however, to introduce composite technologies to the formula.
Top-ranked collegiate programs, including Tulane University,
University of California-Irvine, and the University of Virginia, will
be among the first to swing the Fusion this spring.
Fusion Key Features:
A 100% Composite handle delivers twice the flex
-- Constructed from ultra-strong, highly flexible carbon fiber,
Fusion-Flex Technology delivers two times more flex than
comparable aluminum models. This precision-tuned whip action
is engineered for use with Liquidmetal(R) and greatly enhances
the barrel's trampoline.
Pure Energy Transfer(TM) with half the sting
-- The machined-aluminum Fusion-Flex Transmitter conducts the
energy transfer between the handle and the barrel. Upon ball
impact, the Transmitter allows the fused Liquidmetal and
carbon fiber to work together to deliver maximum velocity. The
Transmitter also drastically blocks vibration, providing twice
the sting protection versus comparable aluminum models. (The
Fusion-Flex Transmitter is only available in baseball models).
Stronger than Titanium with 20% more POP across a 30% larger sweet
spot
-- Twice as strong as Titanium, Liquidmetal is renowned for the
pure flow of energy. Its amorphous atomic structure returns
29% more energy upon ball impact. The result is 20% more
trampoline and a 30% larger sweet spot than competitive
models.
- The Fusion will be available in High School/Collegiate, Senior
League, Youth Tournament, Youth, Slow-Pitch, and Fast Pitch models.
